Musical Monday: Memorial Day 2013 Freedom isn’t free

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.                                                                                                                                        John 15:13 ESV

Musical Monday: the Eagles

music I am thankful for the Eagles. As you might have guessed by now, I am a fan of vocal music. Not that I’m in any way opposed to instruments, mind you. Singing Handel‘s Messiah acappella, to me, would be like painting the Sistine Chapel ceiling by numbers.

I am a fan of all  manner of music. So to take a break from some of the more classically flavored  wonders we’ve been enjoying lately, here’s my favorite Eagles tune:

Musical Monday: Mind Boggled–Bobby, no. 4

music I am thankful for Mr. McFerrin. Fourth  reason…this piece is my musical tribute to mothers, since yesterday was Mother’s Day.

Please do yourself a favor and spend a little time on YouTube: indulge in this man’s incredible musical talent, revel in his empathy for his audience. Have some fun!

Musical Monday: Bobby McFerrin

music I am thankful for Bobby McFerrin, vocalist par excellence, best known for today’s selection, which was popular back in 1988.

But please, do not let this be the only McFerrin you ever hear. (Of course, if you stay tuned, that’s easily remedied.) His is a mind boggling talent.

Musical Monday: Also Spake Vocal Sampling

music I am thankful for Vocal Sampling, an all male a cappella vocal group from Cuba. While they are best known for vocal renditions of traditional Cuban salsa, this is the first piece of theirs I ever heard.

Can’t recall where I heard it…NPR maybe? I’ve discovered all manner of excellent music there.

Something to enjoy now that the Ides of April (Tax Day) are long past. For me, anyway. Enjoy!
